Steel Rebar

Concrete Reinforcing Bars (Rebar) Steel Foundations

More commonly called “rebar,” concrete reinforcing bar is a hot rolled bar produced from a billet.  It is produced with ribs along its length that interlock with poured concrete.  Depending on its diameter, concrete reinforcing bar can be coiled or bundled in straight lengths.

Concrete can break when it is under tension (being pulled apart or stretched), so steel reinforcing bar is commonly used to increase the strength of reinforced concrete and masonry structures by keeping them in compression.
